Well I have learned not to schedule a workout on Friday after work....it will not happen! I should know that about myself by now. Anyway from now on my workouts on Friday will be in the morning even if I have to get up at 5:00 am! I also know that I have to be more prepared in the kitchen department. This week I was scrounging in the bottom of the vegetable crisper thinking what can you do with wilty cilantro and a soggy zucchini. Also I have learned that patience and consistency are VERY important in this journey. And finally I have learned I CAN DO IT. I can follow a healthy eating plan and workout all at the same time. It can be done. Now I am not saying I have mastered it. I know now that from many tries at this - this is a LIFE long thing that will always have to be managed each and everyday, and that is OK!
So I ended up taking Thursday off (planned break from gym). And Friday did not happen. But this morning I went to the gym and had an EXCELLENT workout! I did some running! Yeah, running is still my goal but trying to be cautious as my right knee is a bit sore and I don't want to have an injury before I can even get started. I really think I am having a knee issue because of carrying around too much weight. I did the walk one lap, run the other for 15 minutes and then a bunch of walking squats, running high knee ups, squats on the 1/2 ball thing?? (this is great for balance), and then some arm weights, and some ab work. I tried extra hard because last night I overate at supper and had 1 too many glasses of Red Wine (damn the red wine!). I know I should probably not have any. But I am trying to work in the calories for one or two glasses on the weekend. Since I was over yesterday on calories. Today is "bring on the veggies day". And thankfully I love all veggies.
Here was my breakfast after working out. I put lime juice on the fruit (no sugar), and 1/4 cup of 1% cottage cheese in the middle - very yummy.
One of my goals today is to get my kitchen organized so that it is easier to make all of this healthy food. And I will be making a trip to the grocery store for some fruits and veggies.
My weakness - A triple grande non-fat latte from Starbucks. I have these way too often. Not bad for the calories, not so great for the bank balance. Had this one today while running errands.
My favorite headband for working out. Yes, like a geek I have it on upside down as my 9 year old daughter pointed out.
I have a new goal today to add to the many. I am going in a mixed (with husband) slow pitch tournament in the middle of June which I am excited about. I LOVE playing baseball. I played on a few teams when I was younger and it is probably my favorite sport. I haven't played for a long time and I don't want to be the "overweight out of shape" wife amidst very fit people. And I know they are all very fit so this is a great motivator. It is about 2 months away and I should be able to drop some weight and get stronger. I know it would be impossible to be at my goal by then but I will be down some weight and hopefully in a good running routine and not weak. I am looking forward to it!
Must run and get some Saturday stuff done. Have a great day!
